European Indoors: Irish Results Round-up

By now, you all know that Mark English ran a smart race to take  800m silver at the Europeans Indoors. There was also a breakthrough run by John Travers who ran two hard 1500m races in two days and encouraging performances from all the rest of the young team.

Men –

400m: Dara Kervick (Conliffe), Rd 1, 1^st, 47.06 secs; SF, 4^th 46.96.

800m: Mark English (UCD) Rd 1, 1:48.10; SF 2^nd, 1:50.54; final 2^nd 1:47.20. SILVER. Declan Murray (Clonliffe) Rd 1 2^nd, 1:48.69; SF, 5^th , 1:48.09.

1500m: John Travers (Donore) Rd 1, 3^rd, 3:41.37 (PB) ‘ final 7^th 3:41.50. Danny Mooney (Letterkenny) Rd 1, 6^th 3:48.96.

60m H: Ger O’Donnell (Carrick-on Shannon), Ht1, 6^th, 8.06 secs.

3000m: Paul Pollock (Annadale), 10^th, 7:58.78 (PB).

Long Jump: Adam McMullen (Crusaders) 17th,  7.53m.

4x400m (English, Kervick, Timmy Crowe (Clonliffe), P Murphy (Ferrybank) , Harry Purcell (Trim). 6^Th; 3:10.67

Women –

800m: Ciara Everard (UCD) Rd 1, 3^rd, 2:02.54; SF, 6^th 2:06.14.
