Dunboyne junior Jack Nyhan threw a personal best 14.26m to win the shot putt at the Dunboyne Winter Throws Festival. Para athlete Sean Hughes from Dunboyne, aged just 16, broke his own Irish senior record five times out of six attempts. Winner of the women’s shot was Anne-Marie Torsney from Fingallians with 11.57m
A total of 24 men and 18 women competed in the hammer, won by Adam King who had made the 300 mile journey from Iveragh , Co Kerry and threw 62.45m. Alice Akers from Marian in Co Clare threw 52.02m to win the women’s event.
Discus winners were Eoin Sheridan of North Westmeath with 48.23m and Gowran’s Sophie Parkinson Gowran with 40.55m. In all more than sixty throwers were in action.
