Jennings Wins Limerick Half Marathon(plus ongoing results)

Former world champion rower Sinead Jennings made a winning return to road racing when she won the Great Limerick Run  Half Marathon in 79 mins 19 secs. Jennings is based in Limerick, where she is a member of the St Michael’s rowing club.

Sergiu Ciobanu won the race, with his Clonliffe buddy Gary O’Hanlon first home in the marathon. Angela  McCann was first woman in the marathon.

Robbie Matthews of Dunshaughlin made it three wins from three when he beat Colin Costello from Star of the Sea to win the Boyne 10km in Drogheda. First woman was Kate O’Neill of MSB.

Over 1,500 turned out for the race, including 45 teams, not all of them from  running clubs.

On a weekend packed with races, the Tallaght 5km attracted a small crowd with Rathfarnham veteran Paul Fleming the winner. Finishing second   and helping Raheny to team victory was Bernard Roe, who then headed to Drogheda for the Boyne 10km, where  he was fifth and Raheny was also first team.

Maria McCambridge was in Donegal running the Letterkenny 10km – a charity race she once won outright. Now officially back with Dundrum South Dublin, McCambridge finished first woman in her first race since the Rotterdam Marathon, where she was forced to drop out. McCambridge’s next big outing is in DSD colours at the European Clubs.

Also from what we can gather (thank you Facebook!), Sonia O’Sullivan, Lizzie Lee and Rosie Ryan were at the West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon in Co Mayo.

*Amy Foster (City of Lisburn) won the 100m at the Miting d’AtletismePala Frugell in Spain. Foster finished in 11.58 secs; second was Sarah Lavin (Emerald) in 11.96. Denis Finnegan won the triple jump with a best of 15.47.
