After over an hour of effort, the Bandon Half Marathon came down to a sprint with John Meade just making it to the line ahead of his St Finbarr’s club mate Cathal O’Connell. First woman was Bandon veteran Carmel Crowley. Both half marathon and 10km were well supported by club runners.
* At the Malahide Parkrun, Emmett Dunleavy improved the course record to 15 mins 25 secs, finishing over a minute ahead of Malahide “regular” Davy Byrne, now with Clonliffe. Kevin Danagher of Rathfarnham was first in 17 mins 7 secs was first home at Marlay; Gladys Ganiel O’Neill, in Dublin for a lecture, was sixth overall and first woman in a new women’s course record of 17 mins 36 secs.
* Ian Bailey of Newcastle AC and Diane Wilson from Dromore were the winners at the Slieve Donard mountain race in the Mournes.
