IMG_0050Thomas Fitzpatrick of host club Tallaght was a clear winner of the Tallaght 5km held over a tough route that ended on the  Tallaght track.

His time of 15 mins 39 secs gave him a solid margin over Mitchell Byrne of Rathfarnham WSAF, who just pipped his coach Paul Fleming, a previous winner of the race and first over 35.  With Shane O’Neill finishing fourth and first over 40, Rathfarnham were decisive winners of the team category.

Next up for Fitzpatrick in the Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000m in London on Saturday May 10. A large Irish group including Brian Maher, Gary Murray, Gary Thornton and Maria McCambridge is travelling.

MSB’s Kate O’Neill won the women’s race in 18 mins 9 secs beating Laura McDonnell of Tallaght, back in solid form  and also winning the Dublin novice title. Ciara Hickey finished third with supervet Grainne Butler of Civil Service fourth and first over 50.

Sportsworld won the women’s team event, with just three points separating the next three – Tallaght Masters, Tallaght Senior and Rathfarnham WSAF. Pics at www.lindie.zenfolio.com
