NIALL SHIELS  of  St Killian’s and comeback kid Niamh Fitzgerald (nee Byrne)  of Lucan Harriers were the winners at a well attended Leixlip 5km, organised by Le Cheile AC and finishing on its spanking new 400m track.

As Peter Mooney reports (thanks Peter!), only a few short years ago, Le Cheile was borrowing space  in the  Leixlip Amenities Centre. Local clubs including Celbridge, Lucan Harriers and Donadea were out in force to support the race, with the biggest representation of the day coming from Sliabh Buaidh Rovers from Gorey. They used the race for a club  day out and had more than 30 runners in attendance, with Myles Gibbons in second place leading them home.  Peter’s pics at www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157644479225761/
