Round-Up: Dublin Half Wins for O’Hanlon, Wlodarczyck and Monahan

Clonliffe’s Gary O’Hanlon was a comfortable winner of the  SSE Airtricity Dublin Half Marathon this morning. His time of 69 mins 43 secs gave him a two -minute winnign margin over Waterford’s Trevor Power. First woman was Patrycja Wlodarczyk, who  finished in 82 mins 54 secs and beat her Raheny clubmate Fiona Stack.

Leading home the entire race was wheelchair athlete Patrick Monahan  from Naas in Co Kildare in a brilliant time of 53 mins 51 secs – a course record surely?  Last May, Monahan won the Belfast Marathon in a huge personal best of 2:06.21. His first marathon was Dublin last October, just two months after he first sat in a racing chair. He finished third in a race that saw the wheelchairs racers going off course and covering an estimated 28 miles. Looks like it’s going to be an interestingIMG_0005 race upfront  next month!

PAUL ROBINSON of St Coca’s ran a time of 3:53.4 to beat Donore’s John Travers in the elite mile at the Ballymote Sub-4 Minute Mile Meet, Co Sligo.
