Round-Up: Donnelly, Moran Win Leinster Novice C-C. Plus Marathon Update

IMG_0005NIAMH Donnelly of Celtic DCH won the Leinster women’s novice title at Rathdrum and also led DCH to team victory. Thomas Moran of Meath won a closely-fought men’s race, with Liffey Valley the first team. Overall winners of the masters race were Jacky Carthy of Kilmore and Niall Lynch of Donore.

RAHENY’S Mick Clohisey ran a time of 49 mins 27 secs for 16th place at  the Great South 10-Mile in Portsmouth. Winner was James Runguru in 46.51.

MICHELLE FINN of Leevale won the Limerick Women’s Mini Marathon 8km from Orla Drumm of Crusaders and Siobhan O’Doherty of Borrisoleigh.

DUBLIN MARATHON UPDATES: A late entry in the men’s elite category is Eliud Kibet Too from Kenya. He finished second with a time of 2:13.35 in the Cleveland Marathon earlier this year – his marathon debut. Not running is Freddy Keron Sittuk, who is still in Kenya having failed to get a visa to return here. Also out is Barbara Sanchez  of Clonliffe; she’s still recovering from her exertions at the European Championships.

RUNNING his 15th consecutive Dublin Marathon and his 20th overall is  Inishowen’s Pauric McKinney, a previous Irish champion, now aged 49 – and in very good shape. Hoping to finally finish a marathon at his fifth attempt is Kilkenny’s Brian Maher, who has last year’s champion Sean Hehir as his oncourse helper.

GOOD LUCK to everyone tomorrow – especially our pals Nadya from 3ROC and Aidan from the Herald!
