Morland Shines Indoors

Elizabeth Morland of Dunshaughlin CS proved the star of the Leinster schools Combined Events Championships in Athlone IT. ComIMG_0031peting at inter level, Morland finished top in all five disciplines, with her hurdles  times at 9.01 secs for 908 points and her 1.66 high jump (806 points) particularly impressive. In the shot,  a 11.62m effort  won her 636 points and her 5.46 long jump was worth 688 points. She finished it off with a comfortable 2:33.51 time for the 800m and a points total of 3688.

Scoring a total of 3727 was Kate O’Connor from St Vincent’s Dundalk, winner of the junior girls, with Niamh Kelly of St Leo’s and Emma Cheshire of St Mary’s also over 3000 points.

Matthew Behan of  CUS won the boys’ senior title with a score of  3368, picking up good points for his 8.13 sec hurdles, his 23.30 sec  time for 200m and his 800m time of 2:11.46. Also over 3000 points were the top three inter boys, led by  the consistent Tim Bowler of St Mary’s Enniscorthy who was rewarded with a score of 3251; his best points came in the hurdles. Keith Marks of Ashbourne, better known as a high jumper,  finished second on 3132, with Ryan Murray  of St Mary’s Enniscorthy third on 3053 poinIMG_0002ts.
