Robinson runs 7:58.56 for 3km; Malone, Maunsell win Eircom C-C

LIN_0935Paul Robinson of St Coca’s finished second in the men’s 3000m  with a time of 7 mins 58.56 secs at the Hunter Track Classic in Glendale, Australia. Winner was Kevin Batt of Australia in 7:57.11. Finishing fourth in 8:05.73 was Leevale’s Mark Hanrahan.

In the women’s 1500m, Laura Crowe of Riocht finished third in 4:11.49.

Locally, Ailish Malone was first women and Kevin Maunsell first of the men at the Eircom BHAA Cross-Country held in  Cherryfield Park Firhouse. Well over 200 turned out for the races, despite the miserable wet conditions.

Donore veteran Barbara Cleary, in her first recorded run for some time, not only ran the this morning’s Marlay Parkrun but led home the 495 finishers in a time of 17 mins 42 secs. This may be the first time that a woman has come home first in an Irish Parkrun.

DSD junior Meghan Ryan finished third in a personal best 18 mins 9 secs , so there were two women in the top three. Splitting them up was  Peter Rogan ho finished second overall and first man in 18 mins 3 secs. A total of 1,368 ran an Irish Parkrun today – and most likely got thoroughly wet in the process. Brilliant!
