Roads: Maunsell wins Boston Scientific ‘Half’

Kevin  Maunsell made it a home win at the 6th annual Boston Scientific Clonmel Half Marathon. His time of 68 mins 19 secs knocked almost two minutes off  the course record. First woman was Aoife Cooke  of Youghal AC in 82 mins  12 secs.

At the Celbridge 5km, Brandon Hargreaves of DSD was a comfortable winner in just over 15 minutes. First woman was Rachael Smyth of St Coca’s.  Cian May of host club Celbridge was 11th overall and first junior man; Cian’s sister Caoimhe was first junior woman.

Raheny’s Freddy Keron Sittuk travelled north at the weekend and won the Monaghan 10-Mile, in 51 mins 50 secs. Just six seconds behind was Derry’s Declan Redd, with Conor Duffy of Glaslough almost a minute adrift for third. First woman was Michelle McGee of DSD in 50 mins 43 secs. of

Rathfarnham’s Paul Stephenson and  Mary Hanley of Na Fianna were the winners of the well-supported Indaver Duleek 10k. Drogheda and District won both the men and the women’s team categories.

Last Wednesday, Mark Christie of Mullingar Harrier won the Castlepollard 5km in a time of  14 mins 33 secs. Just four days earlier in Santry, Christie had won the national 10,000m title.IMG_8169 Raheny’s Mark Kirwan was second and Charlotte Kearney of Donadea first woman.
