Masters: Sadowska and Reed come out on top. Indoor record for Morland. Fitzpatrick 1st in Hannut

AIMG_0305nna Sadowska of Civil Service Harriers won the women’s masters title at Dundalk IT today after a tremendous battle with previous winner  Pauline Curley of Tullamore, who was first W45.  Curley had led out the 4km race closely followed by Sadowska. The pair were soon elbow to elbow until Sadowska used the hill on the final lap to pull away; a slip in the muddy conditions for Curley ended her chances of giving chase. Coming through late to finish third was Pauline Grant of Portlaoise AC. Sportsworld (unofficially) finished best of the teams.

IMG_0345In the men’s race, Declan Reed of  City of Derry Spartans  soon surged ahead, determined to make it a hat-trick of wins. Behind him Tim Twoomey  from Cork won the battle for second place.  Finishing fourth and first M50 was Pauric McKinney of Inishowen; Raheny’s Mick Traynor make a welcome return to racing to finish second  M50. Donore retained the M35 team title; Raheny  finished best M50.

A clear winner of the women’s inter race was Marie Hyland of Crusaders. City of Derry’s  Catherine Whoriskey set a fierce pace on the opening lap but was soon reeled in although she did manage to hold on for third place behind Caitriona Mullen of Shercock. Winning the men’s inter race was Annalee’s Cian O’Reilly; Thomas Moran  of Dunshaughlin and North Belfast Harrier Mark McKinstry were second and third.
