Mullingar’s Mark Christie, who has hit a rich vein of form recently is favourite to win Sunday’s Rathfarnham 5km in Dublin. Christie made a dramatic return to form when he ran away with the 5000m race at the national track and field championships and most recently won the Grant Thornton Corporate Challeneg 5km in Dublin’s Docklands.

Online entry is still open for the race and with over 1,000 already registered, last year’s record number of 1,050 finishers is likely to be surpassed. Entries are also welcome at the Rathfarnham WSAF clubhouse on Friday or Saturday for just €20 and on the day, subject to availability.

Also taking place this weekend is the Moone Kilomarathon and the Galway Bay Half Marathon on Saturday and the Eco 2 Run Festival at Eastpoint Business Park in Dublin’s Docklands, the revived Ferns Half Marathon, the Human Race 10k, Half Marathon and 30km in Limerick, and the Loughrea Grey lake 10km on Sunday.
