Leahy and Hickey Win Portmarnock 10km

What’s left of UCD track

Almost 300 turned out for Portmarnock Athletic Club’s first foray into race organising last night  – a 10km to the beach and back. Winners were  Brian Leahy of Raheny and Cindy Hickey of (we think) Fingallians.

IRISHTOWN STADIUM UPDATE: The track is now stripped, as are the long jump areas,  but it looks as if it still needs some tidying-up.  To lay the new track, five dry days are needed. Tragically, there is no sign of anything being done (yet) to the shot put circle, which turns into a large bird bath when it rains. No word either of any replacement at Belfield for the old track, now two-thirds covered in four-wheeled vehicles.
