Schools: Hope Conquers all at DCU Cross-Country!

IMG_3458Hope Saunders  of Mount Temple and Cathal Doyle of St Aidan’s won the senior races  in some style at the DCU Schools Invitational Cross-County at St Clare’s Glasnevin Dublin.  For Saunders it was a first schools victory after her  wins in both the Dublin and Intercounty junior championships  in November. She went on to represent Ireland at the European Cross-Country where she finished best of the Irish junior women.

Other impressive winners were Sarah Healy  of Holy Child Killieny in the junior girls’ race and Cian May of Salesian Celbridge in the junior boys’ race. Last Sunday, May won the support race at the National Cyclo-Cross Championships.

Overall, St. Kieran’s Kilkenny  won the best boys’ school title, beating St Aidan’s CBS.  Mount Temple and Holy Child Killiney shared the girls’ honours with Colaiste Iosagain a close third. Entries overall were yup to a record 1,142, with the biggest numbers coming in the minor races. Even better, the promised bad weather held off until everyone was safely back in their buses! *Corrected results below.
