Mick Clohisey recorded a solid victory over Freddy Keron Sittuk at last night’s Dunboyne BHAA 5-Mile. Clohisey’s time of 23 mins 22 secs gave him a five second margin over Sittuk. Just a second behind for third was Peter Brandon Somba, while fourth was Lezan Kimutai, who was also first over 40. Kimutai, who started coming to Dublin for the Dublin Marathon winning it one year, almost deserves honorary citizenship at this stage.
First woman was Dunboyne’s own Emilia Dan in 30 mins 34 secs. She had a clear win over Catherine Kelly, with Bronagh Rogers third. There was a magnificent turn-out of 461 for the race, which has deservedly won the BHAA Race of the Year title in the past.
Also attracting a good turn-out last night was the Star of the Sea 5km at Stamullen, where Eoin Callaghan and Orla Timmons made it a home club double. Mick Traynor Of Raheny, who lives locally, was second overall and Caitriona O’Brien of Bohermeen second woman.
IN CORK, Mark Hanrahan won the John Buckley BHAA 5km in 14 mins 28 secs. First woman was Michelle Finn in 16:19. Over 900 finished the race.
