Round-up DCH and Clonliffe take Indoor League titles. Hugh Gallagher RIP

Dublin City Harriers   and Clonliffe Harriers  were the winners at the Irish Life Health National Indoor League final in Abbotstown today.

Catherine McManus proved key to the DCH success in the women’s  competition,  winning the 60m hurdles in 8.43 secs and the long jump with a  5.23m effort. Other winners for the Cabra-based club were Clare Brenna 1500m and and Emily Corcoran high jump with 1.60m.  It was enough to see off the challenge of Sli Cualann and Donore Harriers.

While Clonliffe Harriers dominated the men’s competition, it came down to a count-back for second when Raheny Shamrock and Galway City Harriers both ended up on 64 points; Raheny edged it on count-back. Winners for Clonliffe were Christopher Sibanda in the 60m  with a time of 6.87 secs, Dara Kervick 400m in 48.85, Keith Marks  with a 7.12m effort in the long jump with 7.12m and Niall Counihan 14.15m in the  triple jump.
Many of these will be competing again tomorrow in the Irish Life Health Open Games at the same venue (would tell you more but haven’t been able to get into the AI website all day).

Indoor League -results: Women – 1 Dublin City Harriers 74 pts, 2 Sli Cualann 66.5 pts, 3. Donore Harriers 66 pts.  Men – 1 Clonliffe Hariers 94 pts, 2 Raheny Shamrock 64 pts, 3 Galway City Harriers 64 pts.
