Roads Round-Up: Thornton, McCambridge Winners at Streets of Galway 8km

Local man Gary Thornton won the 30^th Streets of Galway 8km, sponsored by Kearney Cycles. Thornton’s time of 23 mins 53 secs  saw him relegate Clonliffe’s Sergiu Ciobanu, who finished in 24 mins 12 secs, to second place. First woman and tenth overall was DSD’s Maria McCambridge , who, like Thornton, is in full marathon training at the moment. McCambridge crossed the line in 26 mins 58 secs.

FREDDY KERON SITTUK of Raheny and East Down’s Catherine O’Connor were the winners of the annual Michael Fearon/Kevin Marron 5km, Carlingford, Co Louth. Freddy then headed up to Lifford where he won the Riverine 10km in a new record time of 30 mins 39 secs.
