Results Round-Up – Home and Away

LIN_1289Raheny’s Fiona Roche produced a great time of 22 mins 17 secs run to finish eighth overall and first woman at the Dunleer 4-Mile. Coming home first was Mark Hoey of Star of the Sea in 19 mins 55 secs. A notable finisher was many times Irish international Rosie Lambe, who was fourth woman and first over 50 (can she really be that age?) while

Large groups from North East Runners and Drogheda and District as well as the the host club and its Team Carrie offshoot boosted the numbers with the NER men and  D&D  women taking the team prizes.

At the French Championships, Shauna Cannon of Bros Pearse and Nantes Metropole Athletisme  ran 55.21 in the 400m heats to qualify for the final where she finished sixth in 55.39.

Rose-Anne Galligan of Newbridge ran 2:04.56 to win the A 800m at the BMC Meet held in Watford on Wednesday. Ferrybank’s Michael Dowling was third in the A 1500m in 3:52.19.

Tori Pena was in action at the Meeting AEA Classic de Sotteville-les-Rouen in France last Monday July 8. She she finished third in the pole vault; she made 4.40 and 4.50 both on hLIN_1338er second try before  attempting 4.60m unsuccessfully.

On the roads, Raheny’s Brian Leahy won the Clontarf Half Marathon in 74mins 55 secs, leading home over 1,200 finishers in broiling hot conditions. Results summary below. 

* Andrew Flynn of DSD was first home at the Marlay Parkrun, followed by Peter Gerard Casey. Vanessa Sallier of Rathfarnham was first recorded woman; Sonya from Rathfarnham came in ahead of her. In Malahide Raheny Davis Gorman and Cindy Kelly were first home, while in Griffeen, the honours went to John Canny of Lucan Harriers and MSB’s Emma Donlon. * In very hot conditions last Friday evening, Clonliffe’s Sergiu Ciobanu won  the Rathgormack 5-mile in 24.57 with West Waterford’s Raivis Zakis 2nd in 26.08. First woman was Clonmel’s Angela McCann in 31.17.
