Paul Pollock of Annadale Striders finish 32nd in the marathon at the Rio Olympics, finishing in 2:16:24. Pollock passed through halfway in 68:09 in 96th place coming through strongly in the second half of the race.
His training partner Kevin Seaward of St Malachy’s finished 64th in 2:20:06 while Raheny’s Mick Clohisey was 103rd in 2:26:34. The race was won by Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge in 2:08:44.
Seaward and Mick Clohisey were both struggling coming into the race; Seaward with a bug he picked a few days earlier and Clohisey with virus as well as blister that became infected.
