Pentathlon Record for Proper

Kelly Proper of Ferrybank has set a new Irish record on her first attempt at an international heptathlon.

Proper’s total of 5,442 points  for eight place at the Multistars competition  in Florence, Italy  added 43 points to the record of 4,399 set by her clubmate Marread Murphy  in Kansas, USA  a year ago. On the opening day of competition,  Proper  ran 14.80 for the 100m hurdles (868 pts), cleared 1.66 (806) in the high jump , threw 10.40 (5560 in the shot and race 24.10 in the 200m – the fastest   time in the competition. , the fastest 200m time of the entire competition. That gave her an overnight total of  3,201 points.

On Day 2, Kelly started with a season’s best in the long jump of 6.31m, threw 34.11m in the javelin and ran 2:26.28 for 800m.
