Park Wins for Travers and Mageean

John TraIMG_0005vers of Donore and UCD’s Ciara Mageean were the winners of the New Year’s Day Tom Brennan Memorial 5km, held in Dublin’s Phoenix Park.

Despite  the squally conditions, Travers finished in a respectable time of 14 mins 43 secs, with previous winner John Coghlan of MSB also breaking 15 minutes.  In third place was triathlete Bryan Keane of Leevale.  In the women’s race Mageean’s time of 16 mins 23 seconds put her comfortably clear of the field led by Catherina McKirnand who was also first over 45. Leona O’Reilly of host club Lifffey Valley was third.

Raheny finishes best of the teams and also did well in the masters grades, with Brian Leahy first over 35, Damien Martin first over 45 and Mick Traynor first over 50 – his first win in this age group (I think!).
