Mallow Course record for Fiona Roche (plus Monday results)

Raheny’s Fiona Roche set a new course record of  56.53 when finishing first woman at the KOSTAL Mallow ’10’ .  Roche, fresh from her victory in the Irish Universities Cross-Country last week, was an impressive 11th overall. Her time qualifies her for the Marathon Mission; she was already a member of the development. squad.
Philip Harty led home the 868 finishers in 51 mins 23 secs, with his West Waterford team mates Sandis Bralitis and Raivis Zakis second and third.
* Sergiu Ciobanu won the Borrisokane 10km in  31 mins 41 secs; Siobhan O’Doherty of the host club was first woman and eighth overall in 35 mins 25 secs. Mick Traynor won the Ned Kelly 4-Mile in Moyglass.

* After his serious bike accident a few years ago, Bryan Keane proved that he is right back in form when he finished fourth at the first ITU Cup of the year in Mooloolaba, Australia. Keane was with the main bunch on the swim and cycle, and battled for second place on the 10km run, only losing out in the sprint for the line. Keane’s time of 1 hrs 55 mins 2 secs put him just 30 seconds behind race winner Javier Gomez of Spain.
In the women’s race, Aileen Morrrison Reid was part of the leading group of seven on the swim and kept with them as the gap grew to three minutes on the cycle. She held on for sixth place on the run.
In the USA, Conor Murphy picked up valuable rankings points when he finished fifth in the Pan American Cup in Sarasota with a strong swim and cycle.
