Thomas Hayes of Kilkenny had a comfortable win in 15 mins 19 secs at the Streets of Portlaoise 5km. Portlaoise junior David Mulhare was second, while his older sister Mary came home first of the women. Just 17 seconds separated with top four women, with Tullamore’s Pauline second ahead of Ailish Malone from Clonliffe and DSD’s Hazel Murphy, who was running her first race after a long lay-off.
