West Waterford’s Joe Gough broke his own newly minted European record when he ran 2:14.45 to win the M60 800m at the European Masters Indoors in San Sebastian, Spain earlier today (Fri).
Gough finished a clear eight seconds ahead of Germany’s Schmidt for victory. He had run 2.26.91 in the heats and 2.27.15 in the semi-finals to books his place in the final. He now competes in the tomorrow’s 1500m heats. Also over 800m, Kilkenny’s Ken Deevy finished a close second in the M55 final with a time of 2:12.89.
