Glasgow Wins for Morland and Irish Team

Elizabeth Morland of Dunshaughlin Community College not only won the over 16 title at the annual Schools International Indoor Pentathlon in the Emirates Arena, Glasgow  today, but set a new international schools record of 3740 points.

Moreland, who has broken a number of Irish records for combined events in recent months, also led her team to a memorable victory over England.

On a good day for the Irish, Daniel Ryan of Thurles CBS finished second in the under 16 boys’ competition, while Sam Healy of Carrigaline Community School was second over 16. Both Irish boys’ teams finished second.

Irish teams –

Girls – Over 16: Elizabeth Morland (Dunshaughlin CC), Sarah Connelly (Glenola CS, Bangor), Annabelle Morris (St Vincent’s, Dundalk),  Sinead Treacy ( St Raphael’s Loughrea). Under 16: Arlene Crossan (Loreto Letterkenny), Niamh Kelly (SH Drogheda), Shannon Sheehy (St Michael’s Navan), Sophie Meredith (Scoil Mhuire & Ide, Newcastle West), Kate O’Connor ( St Vincent’s Dundalk).

Boys – Over 16: Sam Healy (Carrigaline CC),  Keith Marks (Ashbourne CS), Matthew Behan (CUS Dublin), Michael Quilligan (CBS Nenagh). Under 16: Daniel Ryan (Thurles CBS), David McDonald (Wexford CBS), Damien Hickey (Davis College Mallow), Jack Rudden-Kelly (Castleknock CC)
