Gregan Gets Euro Mark; Marrs Attack in Tullamore!

Brian Gregan  of Clonliffe Harriers   ran a season’s best of 45.94 secs   to finish sixth in a closely run 400m at the Gugl Meet in Austria last night. His time dipped under the European Championships A mark of 46 seconds. American  James Harris  won the race in 45.33.

Paul Robinson  of St Coca’s finished a close second in the 1000m behind Anthony Chemu of Kenya. Chemu ran 2:18.20; Robinson 2.18.31.

HIGHLIGHT of last weekend’s opening day at the Glo Health Juvenile Track and Field Championships in Tullamore was a stunning M16 high jump record of 1.94m set by Lisburn’s Robbie Marrs. In second place, Ryan Carthy of Adamstown was also over the old mark clearing 1.91m.

James Kelly of Finn Valley produced a record-breaking throw of 51.67m to win the M15 javelin, while Leevale’s Sam Healy was the clear winner of the M19 110m hurdles in 15.33 secs. The juvenile championships continue in Tullamore on July 26/27.
