Sarah McCormack has withdrawn from the Irish women’s team for the European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia next Sunday. McCormack picked up a toe injury last week and has struggled to shake it off. She is replaced by DSD’s Sarah Mulligan, who finished seventh in the trial race.
Mulligan has had her best year yet, anchoring DSD to victory in the National Road Relays. On the hills, she became the first Irish woman to win the gruelling Snowdon International in Wales last July and followed that up by helping Ireland to bronze (along with McCormack) at the World Mountain Running Championships in Poland.
