Colin Costello of of Star of the Sea and Donore’s Sorcha Nic Dhomhnaill were the winners at the South O’Hanlon 5km in Senechalstown. In the women’s over 45 class sisters Imelda Clarke, Mary Hanley and Bridget Clarkee finish first , second and third – and won the overall women’s team prize. In the W50 class, Mary Watters from Navan just beat former Irish international Rosie Lambe by a single second.
* Becky Woods won the senior women’s race at Clonliffe’s Ladies 600 yards Oaks Day races, held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the women’s club. Founding members of the club lined up to watch, including Olympian Claire Walsh, many times Irish cross-country champion Anne O’Brien, Irish champion Padraigin Moore and the irrepressible Frances Mansfield, who was celebrating her birthday on the day and still competes in masters events.
*Irish duathlon champion Cathal O’Donovan of Cork Tri won the third of the Runways Dublin Duathlon Series in the Phoenix Park last night. O’Donovan ran a course record 7 mins 56 secs for the opening leg, finishing in 36 mins 27 secs. Killian Heery beat Jude McEntee for second place, with Gary Crossan fifth and first over 40. Aoife Lynch of Pulse Tri was first woman in 43 mins 46 secs, followed by Suzy Macken and Gena Byron.
