Cleirigh Buttner qualifies for NCAA Championships

Siofra Cleirigh Buttner of DSD is to run the 800m at the NCAA Championships for Villanova on March 11-12

Cleirigh Buttner’s time of 2:03.72 earlier this season is a new Villanova record and ranks sixth on this year’s national performance list . As a freshman last year, Cleirigh Buttner ran at the NCAA experience as part of the Villanova distance medley relay lineup. She also competed individually in the 800m at the outdoor NCAA East Preliminary. At last week’s Big East Championships , Cleirigh Buttner competed for the distance medley and 4x400m relay teams as well as in the 800m.

Also taking Big East honours was Villanova freshman Harry Purcell of Trim AC, who ran in the 400m, 4x400m relay and distance medley relay (400m)
