Christie Leads Them Home at Corporate 5km

Mark Christie representing Pfizer led home an entry of  almost 3,000 at the Grant Thornton Corporate 5km Team Challenge in Dublin’s Docklands. Christie’s time of 14 mins 50 secs put him 25 seconds clear of Dermott McDermott, representing Team Dovas.

A close third was Conor Dooney representing Davy Stockbrokers. Recorded as the first woman home in 18th place overall was Olga Hammersley of Accenture, who (apparently) finished in 16 mins 21 secs; shurely shome mistake ??  A more likely winner was Kate McGinley of KMPG, recorded as coming home second  in 17.23 while third was Jill Hodgins in her first race since becoming a mother.

Teams were divided into men, women and mixed categories with over 400 teams in the mixed category.  Business Houses Athletic Club “regulars ” dominated the sharp end of the team competition. A strong Defence Forces A team led by Paul Buckley in ninth place and including Jason Broderick, Noel Kelly and Paul Mitchell was first of the men’s teams, coming in a 30 seconds clear of UCD, led by Garrett Coughlan.   PWC, led by Ilona McElroy, and including Rachael Morgan, Florence Curley and Giolla Carroll, was best of the women’s teams, while  Airbus Flyers, led by ex-BHAA chairman Paul O’Connell, was best of the mixed teams.
