Thomas Barr of Ferrybank improved his own 400m hurdles record to 48.65 secs at the Diamond League in Rome tonight.
Running in lane two, Barr moved up to fourth place from seventh in the home straight. Johnny Dutch of the USA won the race in 48.13, with his American team mate Michael Tinsley second in 48.34. Third was former world champion Javier Culson of Puerto Rico who was timed at 48.65 – the same as Barr. Barr’s previous national record set last year was 48.90 secs.
