Cows in St Luc

Am image from the sister Meabh (wouldn’t you know she was an artist and a brilliant one at that!) of cattle wandering up the road under the appartment at St Luc in the Val d’Anniviers in Switzerland (turn right in Sierre). My family has visited this area regularly for over two decades and come to […]

Buy My Book!

Over the past few months, not one but two potential film offers for “Lady Icarus” have come up. Naturally, I think the life of aviator Lady Mary Heath would make a great film – murder, romance adventure, fancy clothes and old aeroplanes; what more do you want? Anyway, one woman looking for “Lady Icarus” was […]

GRIFT

Waiting for the DART to pass at the Merrion Gates, saw a large graffito facing me (on the small hut beside the railway line) – GRIFT. So Charlie, you’re right and I suspect he’s the lad defacing most of the area. He’s known to the authorities and comes from a “good” family. From Gerry M: […]

That’s the thing with orienteering – everyone of all ages can get involved; […]

A short walk destroyed

Here are some images from the usually serene walk from Booterstown to Blackrock. Walls, the Martello tower, the truck, seats, the halting site, the band stand, even the children’s playground, are all defaced. Fortunately there are a few metres still untouched, so perhaps when the cretin comes back, they’ll catch him.

Our Man from the Council

I would love to have a pic for this but I don’t. Imagine if you will a cheery chappie standing outside your garden gate, armed with a metal rod topped off with a rounded piece of wood. This is stuck in a hole in the ground and our pal is bent over with an ear […]

Sailing in Dun Laoghaire Harbour

These pictures came during a happy afternoon, watching the Irish Sailing Championships in Dun Laoghaire Harbour. The 25 seniors all had to sail 1720s – a boat designed by a Cork man and made in Tralee. The name refers to the founding year of the Royal Cork Yacht Club.On the high-powered rib we were aboad […]

Happy birthday Wael!

Meanwhile, back in Doha …It was our wonderful driver Wael’s 26th birthday last Sunday and the lads sprung him a suprise party, asking him to pick them up for a trip to the supermarket. Denis reports: “Wael’s surprise party went really well. He returned from Mecca two days ago bearing GIFTS for all of us; […]
