Mary Cullen of North Sligo AC leads the entry at the International Brooks Armagh Road Races on Thursday February 20. Also entered in the women’s 3km race is DSD’s Ava Hutchinson who, after a long break from the sport, ran 34 mins 43 secs for third place at last weekend’s Chichester Priory 10km in England.
They face a strong field that includes Polish athlete Matylda Szlezak, whose best 3000m time equals the Armagh course record of 9 mins 7 secs set last year by Cullen. Even faster is is Stevie Stockton of Wales who recently recorded a time of 9:00.67 for 3000m, while also entered is Shauna McNiff of the USA.
Newcastle’s Kerry Harty, with two wins in Armagh to her credit, leads the Northern Ireland team.
Pencilled in for the men’s 5km is Clonliffe’s Mark Kennealy, who was a late withdrawal from the European Club Cross-Country a few weeks ago. Michael Mulhare of Portlaoise, Raheny’s Mick Clohisey, John Coghlan of MSB, and locals Conor Bradley, Joe McAllister and Stephen Scullion.
