Siofra Cleirigh Buttner (Col Iosagain) and Sarah McCarthy (Maryfield) were both senior double winners over the two days of the Aviva East Leinster Schools Girls’ track and field championships held in (mostly) sunny Irishtown.
Cleirigh Buttner raced away with the 800m in a time of 2 mins 12 secs on the opening day, l
ate helping her school to victory in the open relay. A day later, she had an equally comfortable win the 1500. McCarthy took one throw in the long jump but at 5.78m , it was enough to win the competition by a big margin. A day lter, she added the 200m to her collection and then ran the second leg for the victorious Maryfield relay team.
Another double winner was Molly Scott of Col Chonglais who won both the junior hurdles and the 100m and took relay silver.
