Round-up: Relay record for Irish Junior women. Coghlan, Heaslip win Docklands 5km (updated)

Setting a new Irish junior 4 x 100m record at Lausanne last night was the quartet of Ciara Neville, Molly Scott, Gina Moses and Sharlene Mawdsley.
In a race won by the Swiss in a new national record time, the Irish women finished sixth in 44.31 secs, smashing the two-year old Irish record of 45.08 secs.

At the Belfast International on Wednesday evening, Leon Reid won both the 100m and 200m.

JOHN COGHLAN of MSB continued his recent vein of good form by winning the Docklands 5km last night in 14 mins 30 secs. Clonmel’s Kevin Maunsell was two seconds behind for second with Freddy Sittuk of Raheny third. First woman was Shona Heaslip of An Riocht who finished 16th overall in a brilliant time of 16 mins 12 secs. Laura Shaughnessy of DSD  was second in 16 mins 34 secs. Her coach and mentor Niamh O’Sullivan finishes first W55 in a time that would have see her finish second W45!
