Anne Gilshinan of Menapians won both the 800m and 1500m in the W50 age group at the British Masters Track and Field Championships in Birmingham.
The much-improved Gilshinan won the 800m with a time of 2:21.69 beating English athlete Alison Woods by ten seconds. In the 1500m, she took the scalp of former British international athlete Zara Hyde Peters for victory in 4:57.17.
Other Irish winners were Clonliffe’s Matt Slattery, the Irish M65 100m, 200m and 400m champion, who took the British 400m title in 63.4 secs and Davey Clarke of North Belfast Harriers, winner of the M55 1500 and 5000m. In the throws, Loughrea’s Mary Barrett won the W55 shot with a best of 10.21m, Damian Crawford of Strabane took the M45 javelin title with 48.65m, while Dannea Herron of City of Derry won the W55 javelin. There were also good performances from Ger Cremin 2nd M35 110m hurdles and Lucy Moore-Fox of DSD 3rd weight for distance.
