Sergiu Ciobanu of Clonliffe was in a class of his own at the Annerville 10km, despite still having a recent marathon in his legs.
Ciobanu’s winning time of 30 mins 27 secs put him a massive minute and a half ahead of Philip Harty, now running with Ferrybank. First woman in 38:56 was Carmel Fitzgibbon from Thurles Crokes.
MICK CLOHISEY beat the national Parkrun record yesterday with a time of 14 mins 46 secs in St Anne’s Park, Raheny. This beats English visitor Paul Martelletti’s time of 14:57 set in Porterstown in May of last year. Raheny Shamrock – and St Anne’s Park – now hold both records, with Aoife Talty’s time of 16 mins 51 secs from the first Parkrun run on 28 September 2013 at St Anne’s still standing. A close second is Barbara Cleary of Donore who ran 16:54 at Marlay in November 2014.
*At Malahide, Brandon Hargreaves, the 10,000 metres Irish champion, made a low-key return to racing with a time of 15:08.
