Where I live

Just in case any of you are interested in my third floor flat off the B Ring Roadd. The first image shows the view from the front door; the second the view from the bedroom. Don’t you just LOVE the rich red furniture! Under the window is the vital Air Con and, as you can see, the floor is made of ceramic; vital in the warm weather to come (it’s 35 degreees today, and going to get a lot hotter in July and August). On the TV, you can get HUNDREDS of channels, most in Arabic. The three of interest are BBC World, MBC2 (movies) and TV5. Like in the cinema, films are cut, usually very crudely when it comes to the love scenes. Happily for those that enjoy blood and gore, they leave all the violent stuff in there (as far as I can gather – I avert my eyes).
On a walk along the Corniche on Friday, witnessed two middle-aged couples, obviously on hols here, strolling along hand in hand. Fortunely their risque behaviour was under cover of darkness! Still, the fact that you can walk around fearlessly after dark is one of the great virtues of this city; no drunken nutters and copulating couples to negotiate. Nor do you find used condoms and broken glass everywhere, though I have seen two examples of graffiti.
