Raheny’s Freddy Sittuk looked a happy man as he crossed the line at the Bay 10k in Dun Laoghaire, leading home over a thousand finishers in a time of 31 mins 55 secs – not a bad time for an athlete who had won the Cookstown Half Marathon a day earlier. A minute behind for second was Karol Cronin of Sportsworld, with junior athelete Lorcan Cronin third. First woman in 39 mins 53 secs was Sarah Baryga.
Last Thursday, Sittuk and Laura Shaughnessy were the winners of the Carton House Trail 5k, organised by Dunboyne AC and a welcome addition to the calendar. All funds from the race will go to the club’s track fund.
DECLAN POWER and Ciara Hickey were the winners of the Dublin Fire Brigade 5km held at the DFB Training Centre in Marino. Next race on the BHAA calendar is a new one – the Pfizer 5k cross-country in Newbridge on Saturday September 10 (11.0) . Is it that time of year already??
