Belfast athlete Stephen Scullion, who is a member of Clonliffe Harriers, won the Laganside 10km in Belfast today. Scullion and Scott Rankin of Foyle Valley led the race for the first 5km before Scullion pulled away from victory in 30 mins 48 secs. East Down’s Brendan Teer finished second after overtaking Rankin in the later stages of the race. First woman by two minutes was Teresa McGloin of Finn Valley in 35 mins 5 secs
SBR’s Myles Gibbons was the runaway winner of the inaugural Gathering Charity 8km at Leopardstown Racecourse. Gibbons moved to the front from the start and finished with over three minuets to spare in 26 mins 20 secs. Ross Cadogan was second and Joseph Roche third. First home of the women and eighth overall was Rachel Wisdom in 33 mins 11 secs.
* Riocht’s Laura Crowe ran a late season PB of 4:12.06 for 1500m at the Citta di Padova Meet in Italy. Brian Gregan of Clonliffe was 5th in the 400m in 46.48 and Paul Robinson 7th in the 800m in 1:48.05. At the Flame Games in Amsterdam on Saturday, David McCarthy of West Waterford won the 1500m in 3:42.25. Steven Colvert of Crusaders was 2nd in the 200m in 21.13, having earlier run 10.65 to finish 4th in the 100m.
