Results Fri Aug10-Thur Aug 16

* Dunshaughlin junior Thomas Moran won the St Brigid’s 5km in Oldcastle;  Tullamore Olympian Pauline Curley was first woman.
* Dave Rooney and Maria McCambridge came out on top at the big race of the weekend – the  Corrib Oil Streets of Galway 8km. Rooney was chased hard by Paddy Hamilton and Sergiu Ciobanu but had enough in hand and finished in 24 mins 3 secs.
McCambridge, training for the Dublin Marathon, was a clear winner of the women’s race in 26 mins 36 secs, with Siobhan O’Doherty second and Breege Connolly third. Kudos to Galway City Harriers for getting their results out so fast.
* Mark Hoey and Fiona Roche were the winners of the Dunleer 4-Mile, with impressively large squads out from the host club Dunleer, Drogheda and District and Team Carrie.  Even bigger numbers at the  Celbridge 5km; winners  Paul Fleming and Kerry Harty.
* Serious problems with runners going off route at both the Moone Kilomarathon and the Midlands Half Marathon.
* Brian McMahon of Clonliffe won the trial race for the World Mountain Running Champions in Glenmalure.
* Brian Leahy and Angela McCann won at the Dublin  Tunnel charity 10km. Interesting that all the Dublin newspapers are now vying to get the “rights” to print race results and won’t even let the names of the winners go up on the web, sometimes for a couple of days after the race.
