Teams from nine clubs will compete in the inaugural indoor track and field club league starting next Sunday in Athlone.
Competition will take place over three rounds, with three track and two three field events on the first two rounds and all events on the third. The top six clubs will compete in the final, with two teams allowed per club in both men and women’s competitions. Individual entries are also allowed, with the top six to eight qualifying for the final, depending on the event. Round 2 of the league is scheduled for February 22, with the final on March 16.
Clubs already entered are : Women- St Abban’s, Le Cheile, Menapians, Craughwell, Raheny Shamroc, Limerick and Leevale. Men – Kilkenny City Harriers, St. Abban’s, Le Cheile, Menapians, Crusaders, Craughwell, Raheny Shamrock, Limerick and Leevale.
* Outdoors, this year’s league final will take place on Sunday August 2, with the format largely unchanged after much discussion within Athletics Ireland.
