Maria McCambridge of DSD won the SSE Airtricity Frank Duffy 10-Mile for a fifth time out of eight starts in Dublin’s Phoenix Park this morning.
McCambridge was out on her own from the start and clocked an excellent time of 55 mins 15 secs. Afterwards, she confirmed that she will be defending her Irish marathon title for a second time at the SSE Airticity Dublin Marathon in October. “The hunger has come back – and quite suddenly. I really didn’t want to run another marathon earlier this year, ” said McCambridge after the race. She now heads to Spain for three weeks warm weather training before the SSE Dublin Half Marathon next month.
Scottish athletes dominated the men’s race with Andrew Douglas the clear winner in 49 mins 57 secs. In second place was his team mate Michael Crawley. Tallaght’s Tomas Fitzpatrick was first of the home runners in third place. In the Dublin Championships, Raheny Shamrock won the senior men’s title and DSD the women’s.
CLONLIFFE’S Brian McMahon was a clear winner of the Warriors’ Run 15k up and around Knocknarea in Co Sligo.
