Everard and Galligan both under 2 mins 5 secs in Prague

UCD’s Ciara Everard has finished fourth in the 800m at the Prague Indoor Grand Prix in a season’s best 2 mins 4.02 secs after going through the opening 400m in 59 seconds. Finishing a close seventh was Roseanne Galligan  of Newbrige AC in 4:04.12. The race was won by Britain’s Jenny Meadows in  2:01.67.

With qualification for the World Indoors set at 2 mins 3 secs, Everard, who has the mark from last season, was aiming to prove her fitness to the Irish selectors before the announcement of the Irish team tomorrow (Wed)

In the men’s 3000m, David McCarthy of West Waterford finished seventh in 7 mins.54.39 secs.
