Last winter, Tracey Curtis Taylor made an epic attempt to recreate Irish pilot Mary Heath’s pioneering flight from Cape Town to London. Along the way, she faced bureaucracy, prejudice, ivory poachers, and a civil war or two. There was also the weather – in central Africa, the heat made it impossible to fly. When she finally got back to Europe via Greece, it was snow that kept her grounded.
