Thomas Barr of Ferrybank again ran under 50 secs for the 400m hurdles when he finished third behind Javier Culson of Puerto Rico on a windy night at the Cork City Sports.
Culson, the Olympic silver medal winner, won in 48.41 secs, ahead of American champion Johnny Dutch in 49.27 secs and Barr in 49.95 secs.

Ireland’s only winner was Raheny’s Zoe Brown who soared over a new personal best 4.42 to win the women’s pole vault, beating Irish old rival Tori Pena of Finn Valley who finished third with 4.10.
Fionnuala Britton of Kilcoole was third in the 3,000m won by American Marielle Hall in 8:54.48, with Melissa Duncan of Australia second in 8:58.14 and Britton in 9:01.01. Maria Cambridge finished seventh in 9:05.66 and Sara Tracey 10th in 9:10.79.
In the 100m hurdles, Emerald’s Sarah Lavin was pipped by Britain’s Serita Solomon who won in 13.28 secs. Lavin ran 13.30 secs, with Megan Marrs 5th in 14.15 and Catherine McManus 6th in 14.33.
Bantry’s Phil Healy just missed out on victory in the 100m. Cleo Van Buren of the USA won the race in a wind-assisted 11.35 secs, with Healy clocked at 11.36. Niamh Whelan of Ferrybank was third in 11.68 and Catherine McManus of Celtic DCH fifth in 11.73.
In the men’s 100m, David Hynes of Menapians clocked 10.61 secs for sixth place behind Keymar Hyman of the Cayman Islands who ran 11.15. Sligo’s Zak Irwin won a the B race in 10.59 with the wind at +2.8.
Ferrybank’s Kelly Proper finished second in the long jump with 6.20m – marginally behind the winner Bianca Stuart of the Bahamas on 6.22.
World 50km walk champion Rob Heffernan was fourth in the 3000m walk in a personal best time of 11 mins 9 secs – a men’s over 35 world record.
In the men’s mile, seven athletes broke the four-minute barrier. American Kyle Merber won the race in 3:56.72, with Kevin Batt of St Coca’s best of the Irish with a time of 4:01.81 for ninth place.heather Kampf of the USA won the women’s 800m in 2:01.25. Laura Crowe of Riocht was sixth in 2:04.64 and UCD’s Ciara Everard eighth in 2:08.29.
Winning the men’s 3000m was Zane Robertson of New Zealand in 7:41.37. Leevale’s Mark Hanrahan was fifth in 8:08.22, with Dunleer’s Tomas Cotter ninth in 8:19.48.
In the hammer, four men threw over 70 metres, led by Javier CCienfurgos of Spain with 71.14m.Dempsey McGuigan was ninth with 64.62m.
Sam Healy was third in the long jump with 7.18m, Donagh Mahon fourth in the high jump with 2.05m, just beating David Cussen. In the shot, Claire Fitzgerald was fourth with 14.49m.
MARK ENGLISH won the 800m in Lugnano in 1:46.52.
