A personal best time of 4:12.79 for Newcastle’s Kerry O’Flaherty in the women’s 1500m proved the highlight of the Le Cheile IMC International held in Leixlip.
O’Flaherty produced a storming finish for second place behind New Zealand visitor Angela Petty who won the race in 4:08.54. A closely fought men’s 1500m was won by English visitor Tom Lancashire Tom Lancashire in 3:40.04. Donore’s John Travers was second in 3:41.43; John Coghlan of MSB was fourth 3:45.0
In the men’s 400m hurdles, Thomas Barr’s track record was broken by British hurdler Sebastian Rogers who ran a time of 49.84. With Barr resting before next weekend’s European Team Championships, Paul Byrne proved best of the Irish in 51. 20secs.
Opting to run in the men’s B 3000m was Letterkenny’s Anne Marie McGlynn who was rewarded with a time of 9:27.23.
AT THE NEW YORK Diamond League, UCD’s Mark English clocked a time of 1:46.12 for seventh place in the 800m. Winner was David Rudisha of Kenya in 1.43.58.
