Folks –
My sister Meabh, who is based in France, is having a sale of her exquisite tapestries (Me? Biased?!!). She was trained in Kilkenny and Edinburgh and is a previous winner of the RDS Crafts Fair bursary and overall award for weaving, plus all sorts of other honours, so she is seriously collectable.
Each of her works involved weeks and weeks of sitting still and carefully weaving one silken thread after another on a small loom, mixing and matching shapes and colours – the kind of intricate and concentrated work not often seen in today’s hurly-burly world.
