*Rathfarnham’s Sean Hehir and Fiona Roche of Rahney were the winners at the NoelMcGuill/Sandra Floyd Cross-Country in Dunleer.
* New York came to the Phoenix Park on Sunday with 174 of the 500 or so Irish who had signed up for the New York Marathon taking up the invitation to run the distance in Dublin. On a five-mile loop and a perfect day for running, they were sure of lots of support and all got the special New York Marathon medal when they completed the distance.

First home was Wayne Reid of Mullingar Harriers, who finished in 2 hours 43 minutes. Reid, who is deaf, is an experienced triathlete. Next to cross the line was Niall Lynch, who finished in 2:48.58 – almost five minutes quicker than the time he recorded at the “unofficial” New York Marathon in Central Park a fortnight ago. Just behind him was Kilcoole’s Joe Wright in 2:50.53.

*Clonliffe racing machine Gary O’Hanlon led home an entry of 277 at the Stook 10-Mile race organised by Gowran AC. Gowran was first team. Angela McCann of Clonmel was first woman.
*Raheny’s David Rooney finished a brilliant seventh at the NCAA Cross-County Championships in Louisville, Kentucky, exactly half a minute off a medal. Sarah Collins of Finn Valley was 10th in the women’s race*Davey Byrne and Maura Kearns were the first man and woman home at the second Parkrun Malahide 5km; a fantastic 216 finished.
